  • We’ll lead a budget assessment every month to identify areas where spending has deviated from the plan and adjust the plan accordingly.

Pillar #3 - Monthly Financial Review

  • Budgeting is just one component of the monthly financial review.
  • As part of the monthly review meeting, we’ll review performance against KPI’s, budget, and forecast.
  • The goal of the financial review is to identify areas in the business which require a response from management. For example, questions like:
    • If margins drop because the cost of materials increased, do we need to consider increasing prices or finding a new supplier?
    • If we’re coming up short on the revenue forecast, do we need to adjust the sales plan or offer an incentive to attract new business?

Pillar #4 - Cashflow Forecasting

  • We’ll build a cashflow forecast to better inform the timing of cash expenditures.
  • “Should we buy a new service vehicle this month? In three months? In a year?”
  • A cashflow forecast helps align the spending of cash with the long-term strategic plan.
  • The goal is to minimize the need for short-term, expensive solutions to cashflow constraints.
